Lunar News Network: House Approves Budget

This is a blog site devoted to the U.S. space method and the return to the Moon. In some tactics, the foreseeable future is reminiscent of the moonshot days of the 1960s. The new rocket would have an Apollo-like capsule on major. Astronauts would initially fly in that ship in 2015 but stay in Earth’s orbit, with a moon landing by 2020. Once there, astronauts would construct a base camp and gradually journey to Mars. But, sadly, most of this AP report is fairly disparaging, it is not a hatchet occupation, but it does paint NASA as previous, worn out, a bit lacking in aim. Let us hope they are improper. The only factor in this report that has me definitely worried is this portion about the current and shortly-to-be budget environment:The two presidential nominees and quite a few in Congress say they want to preserve the shuttle flying past the 2010 retirement date mandated by the Bush administration. But doing so would be expensive, and offered the current fiscal meltdown, massive paying on NASA in the long run will not seem to be likely. I’m frightened about that as very well as funding for the relaxation of the Moon, Mars and Past software. In final week’s presidential debate there was a telling instant when the moderator challenged each candidates to explain how the credit crisis would alter their priorities, and neither of them had an reply. I am concerned that whoever wins in November, NASA may well be element of that response..
